  2. ----Week 2 post------
Okay first blog post. Well, I have started this week's project. I have found out that it is really hard starting off from scratch. It is easier when using Dreamweaver rather than Aptana. I think it's so new, I will probably use Aptana next week rather than this week. Dreamweaver's split view is real helpful making a web page. Since the assignment is just asking for the bare minimal for the webpages makes it even easier to do this assignment. However, making the webpage with one picture makes it difficult. I found that putting pictures can be either easy or very hard. To me, it's getting annoying. I apologize if this post is not up to pare

    1. I can't imagine using just code to place a picture on a website. With out actually seeing where you're placing it seems like it would be frustrating. At the same time I feel like it might be challenging to the point where if you complete it it would be most rewarding.

    2. Hi Raven. I too think it is really hard to start off from scratch in this class. My biggest problem is to think of what the finished project looks like and take baby steps creating html hoping that somehow, in the end, what I input will look like the finished product. I just don't see how it will because I don't feel like we have enough information to start with. I feel like we need more basic information before we just start whipping a finished page out. Just entering blind html on a page to me doesn't tell me how to shape and define it and know that eventually it will look like the end result. Big gap there. Good luck in this class, we will obvious need it. Plus I don't feel comfortable using Dreamweaver while not having any instructions on how to use it.

Good to see you at least tried Aptana. We will get into that on Monday. Write down questions you may have, problems you encountered. Start with the code, then look at the result. Dreamweaver makes it too easy to skip the code...

  4. Hey classmates,

For the debug assignment I am having trouble displaying it on a web browser. In Dreamweaver it looks like it should, but it won't show up in a browser. If anyone can help me or had the same problem reply to me.

  5. Hey Raven:
In the document you downloaded, the code is actually an image, and not text, thus it doesn't show in a browser. They did this, so you would have to type out the entire code, and probably learn from it.... :)

  6. For the debug exercise I was able to copy the text and paste it into notepad and make my corrections. I downloaded the word document from the Doc Sharing tab in the shell, but the button for the week that says "skill building exercise" is empty and says "the content for this item is not yet completed." So I'm not sure if I've done the whole assignment. I debuged the two pieces of code in the word doc. I actually did it a few different ways, one just placing the CSS code into the html and another by linking the CSS file to the html. I'm not exactly sure which they wanted us to do.

Raven, have you tried taking the code you made in Dreamweaver, copying and pasting into Notepad and testing it that way? I did my work in notepad and it seemed to work.

I'm still working on how to take the code and put them all in a .pdf file.

  7. hey classmates,

I am having alittle trouble with the assignment for html. I got my basic navigation bar up and running, but when I did that it gave me a dashed box, two in fact and I don't know how to get rid of it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
